Sitamaa Sahayata Foundation is a new non-profit based in Barwani, Madhya Pradesh. It was started in 2026 by two doctors from the town, Dr. Rakesh Dawar and Dr. Mahima Bamniya, together with a small group of volunteers.
Why was the foundation started?
Working in Barwani, the founders kept meeting the same problem from two sides: children who had stopped reading because nobody at home could help, and families who reached a clinic much later than they should have. Neither problem needs a large organisation. It needs someone local to organise a morning.
What will the foundation do?
- Education: reading circles, help with scholarship forms, and bridge classes for children who fall behind after seasonal migration.
- Healthcare: check-up camps with the village ASHA and ANM and doctors from nearby towns, anaemia checks for girls, and sickle cell screening.
- Awareness: short sessions on nutrition with local foods, hygiene and labour rights.
- Community welfare: help with Ayushman cards, pensions and ID corrections, working with the gram panchayat.
How does the foundation work?
There is no office and no paid staff. We ask families what is missing before we plan anything, we take on only what volunteers and nearby doctors can manage, and we write down what happened. Where something is still being planned, this website says so.
